Working in Tourism and Hospitality (WITH)

Aims

The Working in Tourism and Hospitality (WITH) Project offers free training to help unemployed people aged 18 years and over or those under the threat of redundancy, develop the necessary skills to gain employment in the growing tourism, hospitality, catering tourism and retail sectors. By training people in the appropriate skills prior to employment, employers can recruit trained and motivated staff, making the recruitment process easier and saving time and money. Employers can build on the support WITH offers, by providing better training and a defined career structure, enabling them to attract and retain the best workers.

Testimonials

“I would definitely take on other WITH clients. The recruitment process was structured and there were good lines of communication and feedback. The WITH team are very knowledgeable about the courses and about our business. It can be difficult to attract people to our location and we have had a low response to our press adverts. But WITH has been a success. I’d definitely recommend it to other tourism companies, both for recruitment and for training.”
Stuart Cordner, Director, Cruise Loch Lomond

Christina Campbell, Little Chef
Christina’s background includes a number of jobs in tourism businesses including experience of waiting and hotel work. She wanted to get back into work and knew that tourism and hospitality jobs would suit her.

A friend recommended the WITH project to her, so she made contact. “The WITH co-ordinator told me about the training course and it looked like something I would like to do. She also told me that they would offer me a lot to help me find a job afterwards, including job searches and arranging interviews”

Following the training, Christina took part in a work placement at the Little Chef in Milton and was offered a job. Christina says “I really enjoy working at the Little Chef. I like the fact that it’s a team and everyone pulls together”
