The STRIVE (Support and Training Results in Valuable Employment) project is a new and innovative programme to help unemployed disadvantaged individuals into employment. Originally developed in New York in 1985 the project has expanded into a nation wide network of over 22 cities in the US. STRIVE was brought to the UK in 1999, and is delivered through a franchising arrangement by Local Employment Access Projects (LEAP) in London.
The main component of the project is a three week intensive “job readiness” programme that focuses on the all important soft skills that are needed to succeed in the world of work. On completion of the workshops candidates are linked to a Job Support Officer who will provide them with intensive one to one support and guidance in their attempts to secure employment.
Responsibility to the candidates does not end when they find employment. Further support in the form of an aftercare service is provided for at least two years to help with any problems in successfully adjusting to the demands of the workplace.

Dunbartonshire Construction Alliance
is a working group comprising agencies such as SE Dunbartonshire, Jobcentre Plus, Local Authorities, CITB, etc and construction sector companies from around Dunbartonshire.
The role of the group is to sustain and improve business growth and employment in Dunbartonshire by helping companies to maximise the opportunities within the area.
