PACE

Advice & Guidance

PACE was set up as a Scottish Executive initiative. The help available takes a variety of forms: information on benefits, careers advice, starting own business advice, training, CVs and Jobsearch.

Employers are eligible for PACE if their redundancy (planned reduction) is recognised by Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire and is 10% or more of the workforce or department.

The partners making up the PACE team in Dunbartonshire: Job Centre Plus, Careers Scotland, Small Business Gateway, Programme Centre (Tell), Training Providers and The Lennox Partnership.

The Lennox Partnership are the lead partner which means we are involved in discussions and arrangements with the employer at the earliest stage possible. We then keep all other partners informed of progress.

Testimonials

PACE has been involved with a regular number of redundancies in Dunbartonshire over the years. Some companies are better organised than others when dealing with staff who are being made redundant. Polaroid is one of the better companies who we are in touch with regularly. Those made redundant are given access to the PACE partners early on and able to make informed and balanced choices about their future accordingly. The majority of Polaroid leavers move into jobs.

James, aged 34, joined Polaroid straight from school and worked there for 15 years, mostly in the stores. Coming to terms with the prospect of redundancy was very difficult at first for James but he managed to turn adversity into opportunity with the help of Dunbartonshire’s PACE team. PACE, with the Lennox Partnership’s JOBlink team in the lead, interviewed and assessed James. He was referred to a job interview with Fynepax Ltd, a local industrial supplies company. James’s work experience didn’t exactly match the job description – and that’s where the Training for Work programme stepped in.

James was referred to the TELL Organisation for assessment and was then booked to do Telescopic Handler training. He completed the short course with flying colours and started work with Fynepax in April.
